Visit British Columbia and you’ll be amazed by the number of fascinating cities and towns within our borders.  With a land mass that’s nearly four times the size of the United Kingdom, many British Columbians have only just begun to explore the breadth of this incredible province.  Now, more than ever, is the time to #ExploreBC and see what the buzz is really about.  Discover Art News profiling British Columbian towns and regions in our Art-BC Community Newsletter.  These profiles offer insider details on the unique features, artists and stops, sharing the authentic community experiences that make each community unique.

British Columbia is a province of exceptional beauty, spanning from coastal beaches to the Canadian Rockies.  Along our shores, forests, lakes, grasslands and inland deserts are the over five million residents that call this province home.  This landscape, its inhabitants and its history form the backbone of BC Arts & Culture.  This land has been home to indigenous cultures since time immemorial, forming a deep relationship with nature and surrounding nations.  From humble beginnings, each one of our 162 municipalities also informs the diverse collage of BC heritage.

Today, each town and city in BC has their own unique makeup.  Though continually shifting, our communities are created by a culture of landscape, history, climate and crucially, people.  Join us in our Quarterly celebration of the many artisans and artists, as well as museums, cultural enterprises and more that make British Columbia the best place in which to live or to visit.

When Emily Carr (1871–1945) wrote about landscape paintings—her own and those of others—she would sometimes describe how an eye might move through the imagined space in the work.
