Art Councils & Cultural Centres

The pulse of local culture is rooted in community based Cultural Centres and Arts Councils in creative communities across British Columbia.

As venues of both contemporary and historic expression, Cultural Centres  showcase theatre, dance, music and film screenings, exhibitions, workshops and courses; these centres are the hub and epicentre of the unique cultural footprint of the community and region.

Art Councils are a crucial aspect of a thriving arts community. These organizations strive to give voice to the artists and makers in communities and regions by creating collective exhibitions, promoting the arts, curating Art Walks, and hosting other events to give visibility to and create a sustainable platform for local artisans.

Whether large or small, communities in British Columbia depend on organizations that are dedicated to communities of artists, historians, storytellers, and makers eager to share their cultural heritage and contemporary practices.
