Celebrating Indigenous Fashion, Design, and Cultural Expression in Whistler – Sunday, November 23, 2025

The Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre (SLCC) is proud to welcome Vancouver Indigenous Fashion Week (VIFW) to Whistler for its Grand Finale: Above the Clouds, presented in partnership with the Fairmont Chateau Whistler.

Following four days of runway shows in Vancouver, November 19-22 at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, Vancouver Indigenous Fashion Week concludes in Whistler with a spectacular day of Indigenous fashion, artistry, and community connection. Join us at the SLCC on Sunday, November 23 for an unforgettable celebration featuring the Above the Clouds Fashion Show, an Indigenous Artisan Market, and an exclusive Workshop with renowned Indigenous designers.

Above the Clouds Fashion Show

Sunday, November 23 | 3 p.m. | Great Hall at the SLCC
Doors open at 2:30 p.m.

Experience the spirit of Indigenous creativity on the runway in the Great Hall at the SLCC. The Above the Clouds Fashion Show will feature stunning collections by five celebrated Indigenous designers: Tishna Marlowe, Yolonda Skelton, Rebecca Baker-Grenier, Vina Brown, Cheryl Fennell, alongside Lil’wat Youth Designers. Enjoy live entertainment by Haakum and music by DJ Tribal Touch, surrounded by the distinctive house posts, story poles canoes suspended in the Great Hall of the SLCC.

Indigenous Artisan Market & Workshop

Explore the Indigenous Artisan Market in Istken Hall, where creators from across Turtle Island share beautifully crafted fashion, art, and gifts that tell stories of culture and connection.

Guests are also invited to take part in an exclusive Workshop with Copper Canoe Woman and Rebecca Baker-Grenier, exploring the importance of cultural appreciation and representation in design.

Woven Pathways: Indigenous Fashion and Cultural Continuity

The Above the Clouds showcase coincides with the SLCC’s feature exhibition, Woven Pathways: Indigenous Fashion and Cultural Continuity, curated by Rebecca Baker-Grenier (Kwakiutł / Sḵwx̱wú7mesh), now on view in Galleries 2 and 3 through April 2026.

The Vancouver Indigenous Fashion Week experience beautifully complements Woven Pathways, honouring Indigenous fashion as a contemporary expression, where designers represent their identities rooted in lineage, land, and culture, shaping the future of fashion

In Partnership with Fairmont Chateau Whistler

The SLCC is grateful to partner with the Fairmont Chateau Whistler, which will host additional events during the Grand Finale weekend — including an evening fashion experience at the Mallard Lounge on Sunday, November 23, and a continuation of the Indigenous Artisan Market on Monday, November 24. Stay tuned for updates.

A Celebration of Indigenous Excellence

Vancouver Indigenous Fashion Week continues to be a platform for cultural resurgence, artistic excellence, and intergenerational exchange. Through runway shows, workshops, markets, and mentorship, VIFW creates space for Indigenous voices to lead, thrive, and inspire.

The Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre celebrates the living cultures of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and Lil̓wat7úl (Lil’wat) Nations. This fall and winter, the SLCC deepens its storytelling through fashion as art — weaving together exhibitions, performances, and immersive experiences that highlight the creativity and innovation of Indigenous designers.

This year’s collaboration builds on the SLCC’s ongoing relationship with Vancouver Indigenous Fashion Week (VIFW), having previously hosted runway presentations on National Indigenous Peoples Day in the Great Hall in 2025 and featuring Squamish Designer Himikalas Pamela Baker on the mezzanine patio in 2024. Together, these events reflect a shared commitment to celebrating Indigenous fashion, art, and identity.
