The Metchosin International Summer School for the Arts  – ‘MISSA’ is a non-profit society, focused on offering a wide range of art classes, taught by exceptional art instructors.  Our faculty and  participants, come from all over Canada and around the world. Over the two weeks that MISSA runs each summer, a web of magic is spun, fostering individual skill development, fuelling inspiration and allowing a creative community to come together and grow. The program takes place at Pearson College, situated near Victoria, on beautiful Pedder Bay in Metchosin BC. Classes include instruction in painting, drawing, ceramics, printmaking, writing, fibre arts, and sculpture.  In addition to the workshops, self directed and mentored artist residencies are offered. Accommodations area available on campus for the duration of the 2 week program and meals are included in the fees. Our welcoming creative community is cherished by alumni, who look forward to reuniting with their Missa pals each year. Workshop descriptions, instructor write-ups and registration details are available online at missa.ca.

MISSA was founded in 1984 by a group of five artists: Robin Hopper, Flemming Jorgensen, Cheryl Samuel, Carole Sabiston, and Rona Murray. In summer of 1984 the five founding artists ran workshops for 53 participants and from that point onward, MISSA has developed and grown, offering  30 to 40 workshops each summer. Today, MISSA maintains its aim of offering high-calibre art instruction for adult learners in a unique west coast environment. At its heart, MISSA strives to help artists develop their skills, fuel inspiration and help a creative community to come together and flourish.
