The City of Richmond works in partnership and association with local community and cultural organizations, artists and local residents to help sustain and develop cultural heritage and individual expression as well as provide a wide range of cultural experiences and opportunities to residents and visitors.

Richmond is home to Metro Vancouver’s largest theatre company, the Gateway Theatre; one of the region’s most vital contemporary art galleries, the Richmond Art Gallery; and several captivating historic sites, properties and museums that pay tribute to Richmond’s heritage as a key salmon canning, boat-making and farming hub in British Columbia.

Through a growing inventory of public art installations and roster of annual special cultural events, festivals and programs — including the Children’s Arts festival, Maritime Festival, Richmond World Festival and Culture Days — the City strives to energize public spaces and encourages citizens and visitors alike to discover the arts. Visit the City of Richmond’s Calendar of Events to find out about upcoming performances and exhibits.
