Located along the shores of Okanagan Lake in Penticton, the S.S. Sicamous Marine Heritage Society is dedicated to preserving and celebrating the region’s rich marine history. As caretakers of the iconic S.S. Sicamous sternwheeler, the Society operates a unique heritage park and museum where visitors can step aboard one of Canada’s largest surviving steamships and experience life on the lake in the early 1900s.
Founded in 1988, the Society works year-round to restore historic vessels, protect maritime artifacts, and share stories of Okanagan Lake’s vital role in transportation and community development. Through engaging exhibits, guided experiences, and community events, the site offers an immersive look into a time when sternwheelers connected lakeside communities across the region.
More than a museum, the S.S. Sicamous Marine Heritage Society is a living preservation effort, supported by dedicated volunteers and community partners, ensuring this important chapter of British Columbia’s history continues to inspire future generations.
