Come to the Sunny Okanagan! Yes – we have a lot of Vineyards. Yes – we have pristine beaches. But more than that, we have a unique ecosystem which deserves your attention.

The Meadowlark Nature Festival celebrates the natural wonders of the South Okanagan and Similkameen Valleys. With a wide variety of hikes and bikes and walks and talks, we take the long weekend in May to educate and entertain you.

Tours are graded in our guide to meet the physical capabilities of the participants. Some are a lazy but interesting walk in the park, while others involve strenuous exercise. We want kids to come along on appropriate tours and we offer a discounted ticket to encourage them to join us.

Hike the Old Brigade Fur trail. Learn how we are working with invested partners to bring the Burrowing Owl back from the edge of extinction. Paddle a voyageur canoe along ancient First Nations trade routes. Discover remote peaceful lakes and the flora and fauna that abound there. Tour the Dominion Radio Astrophysical Observatory and see the galaxy up close and personal. Bird watching and nature photography workshops make this weekend a highlight in any outdoor person’s calendar. These are just a few of the options you have when you decide to join us.

Come to the Okanagan during the long weekend in May and let a dedicated team of naturalists, biologists, astronomers, archeologists, and first nations story tellers, teach you more about the valleys than you could ever get from a guidebook.

For 23 years, we have been inviting our neighbours and those from away, to come and enjoy our hospitality and experience the Okanagan/Similkameen in a unique festival format that makes appreciating nature an easy and enjoyable task.

Your participation and ticket purchase ensure the continuity of the programs offered by the non-profit society (Okanagan Similkameen Conservation Alliance). These programs express the responsibility we feel for the land we live on. These programs include research into invasive species, recovery of the pacific salmon spawning routes, outdoor education programs for elementary schools, and many other such valuable efforts.
