The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria is one of British Columbia’s most significant public art museums, located in a tranquil, park-like setting just outside downtown Victoria. Housed in a unique combination of contemporary exhibition spaces and the historic 1889 Spencer Mansion, the gallery blends heritage architecture with modern design.
Established in 1946, the gallery has grown to hold the largest public art collection in the province, with over 20,000 works spanning Canadian, Indigenous, and international art, as well as one of the most notable Asian art collections in Western Canada.
Visitors can explore a diverse range of exhibitions—from historical pieces to contemporary works—alongside highlights such as pieces by renowned Canadian artist Emily Carr and a serene Asian garden featuring a rare Shinto shrine.
Beyond exhibitions, the gallery serves as a vibrant cultural hub, offering educational programs, community events, and opportunities for visitors of all ages to engage with art and creativity.
