The Sea-to-Sky corridor is more than just a road; it’s a gateway to some of the most breathtaking scenery and rich cultural experiences in British Columbia. Stretching north from Vancouver, this scenic route winds its way through majestic mountains, alongside serene ocean vistas, and into the heart of the province’s wilderness.

As you travel along this iconic route, you’ll encounter numerous kiosks that invite you to step into the past and immerse yourself in the local culture. These informative stops provide insights into the region’s history, from its indigenous roots to its development into a beloved travel destination. First Nations oral stories can be found in many places along the route, offering a deep connection to the traditions and legends of the land.

The attractions along the Sea-to-Sky corridor are plentiful and varied, each offering its own unique slice of the region’s natural beauty. Designated viewpoints with well-marked signage point to easily accessible pullouts, where you can pause to take in the stunning scenery. Highlights include:

  • Shannon Falls Provincial Park: Famous for its towering waterfalls and lush forests.
  • Tourism Squamish: Known as the Outdoor Recreation Capital of Canada, it offers world-class rock climbing, hiking, and the Sea-to-Sky Gondola with panoramic vistas.
  • Audain Art Museum in Whistler: Home to an impressive collection of First Nations artwork and contemporary pieces.
  • Squamish Líl’wat Cultural Centre in Whistler: A vibrant cultural hub celebrating the shared history and living culture of the Squamish and Líl’wat Nations, featuring exhibits, workshops, and performances that bring First Nations oral stories and traditions to life.

Enjoy these fun events throughout different times of the year as well:

  • Squamish Arts Festival – August 5-17
  • The Squamish Mural Walk – year-round

Squamish is a bird watcher’s paradise. In the winter months, as the eagles gather en masse, it is truly a sight to behold. Every fall, Squamish becomes home to one of North America’s largest congregations of wintering Bald Eagles ((Haliaeetus leucocephalus). In the first 3 weeks of October, 10,000 salmon make their annual journey upstream to spawn, attracting over 1,300 Read more...
