R.J. Haney Heritage Village and the Museum and Archives, located at 751- Highway 97B, is a lovely place that offers a unique and authentic experience for visitors to come and explore our rich Heritage. The 40-acre site is comprised of 24 buildings that are either replicas or originals, including the original 1910 Haney House. There are over 30 exhibits, which tell the stories of Salmon Arm’s history and the Shuswap. Enjoy a class experience with Miss Halpenny, a visit to the Haney House, learn to gold pan and stroll our 2.5 km of easy walking trails.
The new Children’s Museum and Discovery Centre, and the Outdoor Play Area provide hours of playful discovery for families. Located on the main level of the Broadview School House in the heart of the Village with the play area located directly behind the Discovery Centre.
The Montebello Museum is the recipient of the 2018 Thompson-Okanagan- Kootenay Commercial Building Awards “Award of Merit” and is the Associations Canada 150 Lasting Legacy Project. Nine storefronts completing the stories told at the Village such as the Salmon Arm Observer, Demers and Tillman Pool Hall and Barber Shop, Lingford and Honey Photo Studio and the E.A. Palmer Butcher Shop. It is the new home for the Ernie Does Archives Room and the Museum’s collection.
A must see is our very popular Villains and Vittles Dinner Theatre Production. Enjoy a home-cooked meal and live theatre every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday evening in July and August. Reservations are a must and seating is limited. You don’t want to miss this highlight of Salmon Arm’s summer entertainment!
If you are looking for a quaint and unique lunch experience, you must visit the new fully licenced Sprig of Heather restaurant renowned for its rhubarb crisp and fresh-baked goodies. The restaurant is open Wednesday to Sunday from mid-May to mid-September, serving a daily lunch special and features menu items. All foods served on the menu are healthy choices using the vegetables grown on the property or purchased locally. Enjoy the relaxed setting in the heart of the Heritage Village.
