The Public Art program in Penticton transforms the city into an open-air gallery, integrating art into everyday public spaces and making it accessible to all.
A key feature is the Penticton Public Sculpture Exhibit (PPSE)—an annual, year-long outdoor exhibition that showcases original sculptures by artists from across British Columbia and beyond. These works are installed throughout the city, including along the Okanagan Lake waterfront, in downtown areas, and at prominent locations like roundabouts.
Since launching in 2016, the program has brought a rotating collection of sculptures to Penticton each year, with selected pieces leased from artists and displayed for public enjoyment before being replaced by a new exhibition the following season.
In addition to temporary exhibits, Penticton features a wide range of permanent public art installations across the city. These include sculptures, murals, and functional artistic elements integrated into public spaces such as parks, streets, and civic buildings—encouraging exploration and interaction throughout the community.
Overall, Penticton’s public art program plays an important role in enhancing the city’s cultural identity, creating vibrant, engaging spaces that connect residents and visitors through art, history, and place.
