Kasugai Gardens is a მშვიდ and beautifully designed Japanese garden tucked behind Kelowna City Hall in the city’s Cultural District. Created in 1987, the garden symbolizes the sister-city relationship between Kelowna and Kasugai, Japan, reflecting a shared commitment to cultural connection and friendship.
Designed in the traditional Japanese style, the garden emphasizes harmony, balance, and contemplation. Visitors will find carefully arranged natural elements such as stone lanterns, wooden bridges, waterfalls, and a koi-filled pond, all integrated with manicured pines, maples, and seasonal plantings. These features are intentionally composed to evoke miniature landscapes and encourage quiet reflection.
Enclosed within walls and somewhat hidden from surrounding streets, the garden offers a serene escape from the bustle of downtown Kelowna. Its tranquil pathways and seating areas make it an ideal spot for a short stroll, photography, or simply pausing in nature.
Open seasonally from spring through fall, Kasugai Gardens is free to visit and is especially popular during cherry blossom season and autumn foliage, when the landscape transforms with colour.
Overall, it stands as one of Kelowna’s most unique cultural landmarks—blending natural beauty, symbolic design, and international friendship into a peaceful urban retreat.
