Lying at the edge of the Fraser Valley, Hope is a hub of highways that come and go from everywhere! To the west, across the Fraser Valley is Vancouver via Hwys 1 & 7; to the north, Hwy 1 winds up the scenic Fraser Canyon to the BC Interior and Cariboo regions; to the east, Hwy 3 crosses the Coast Mountains to Princeton and east to the Kootenays, and to the south, is the only road access to the Skagit Valley at the edge of the Cascade Mountains.
Hope, Cascades & Canyons has a vibrant culture that celebrates the arts and local artisans. Learn about Hope’s culture by visiting the museum, art gallery or Japanese Friendship Garden. Take a stroll through town and view all of our 80+ chainsaw carvings and find out why we are tagged the Chainsaw Capital.
An ode to the History of Hope
If you are interested in learning more about Hope’s heritage, visit the Hope Museum. Open May to September, the museum depicts various periods of Hope’s growth, history and culture. Exhibits include First Nations culture, Fort Hope, Fraser Canyon Gold Rush, Kettle Valley Railway, early pioneers, logging and mining. A historical setting display includes a kitchen, parlour, school room and blacksmith shop. Admission by donation.
