Almsgiving Hope Cinema & Performance House is a historic independent cinema and live performance venue in downtown Hope, British Columbia. Originally opened in 1945 as the “New Hope Theatre,” the venue has been revived as a community-focused cultural space offering movies, live music, theatre, comedy, magic shows, opera broadcasts, festivals, music lessons, and community events.
The theatre was reopened under the leadership of Ali Marsman with a vision of creating a welcoming arts and entertainment hub that “gives back” to the community. In addition to film screenings, the venue hosts performances, educational programs, family events, and touring productions while preserving one of British Columbia’s oldest surviving independent cinemas.
Located at 376 Wallace Street in Hope, the cinema has approximately 320 seats and continues to serve as a gathering place for residents and visitors seeking entertainment in the Hope, Cascades & Canyons region.
