Located in the eastern foothills of the Northern Rocky Mountains, Chetwynd offers a unique balance of prairies, mountains, wilderness and a full service community. The area is well known for its breathtaking scenery and countryside.

Chetwynd is world renowned for its Annual International Chainsaw Carving Championship, which has visually shaped Chetwynd into a one-of-a-kind locale.

The Four Day Event is into its 15th Year and is now drawing international attention. Carvers come from all over the world to compete for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place prizes as well as People’s Choice Award and Carver’s Choice Award. Carvers also participate in a ‘Quick Carve Competition’ Sunday afternoon where their smaller piece is auctioned to spectators.

Known worldwide for a fantastic collection of chainsaw carvings, The carvings themselves are becoming more intricate, with details so fine it is hard to believe that they were created with a chainsaw. Chetwynd’s collection includes more than 150 beautiful pieces, with new sculptures added each year.

Pickup a free brochure from the Visitor Centre and take a self-guided tour of the carvings found throughout our community.
