Gibsons, a charming coastal town on British Columbia’s Sunshine Coast, is known for its vibrant arts scene and rich maritime history. This picturesque community has long been a haven for artists, writers, and creatives, while also preserving its deep-rooted heritage through local museums and historical sites.

The Gibsons Public Art Gallery (GPAG) is a cultural hub showcasing the work of Sunshine Coast artists, with rotating exhibits of paintings, sculptures, photography, and mixed media. The town is also part of the Sunshine Coast Purple Banner Tour, a self-guided exploration of artist studios and galleries, allowing visitors to meet local creators and experience the region’s artistic spirit firsthand.

History enthusiasts can explore the Sunshine Coast Museum & Archives, which chronicles the area’s Indigenous heritage, logging and fishing industries, and the town’s claim to fame as the filming location for the classic Canadian TV series The Beachcombers. The museum’s interactive exhibits, including vintage artifacts and maritime displays, offer an engaging look into Gibsons’ past. Whether you’re drawn to the arts or intrigued by local history, Gibsons offers a perfect blend of creativity and heritage in a stunning seaside setting.

Gibsons, the entryway to the Sunshine Coast, is just a 40-minute ferry ride from West Vancouver. Known for its stunning views, Ch'ḵw'elhp Indigenous culture and the iconic restaurant Molly's Reach from The Beachcombers. Gibsons attractions include the One Flower One Leaf Gallery. This gallery showcases over 30 local artists and artisans, featuring paintings, sculptures, photography, jewelry, and more. Notable artist Joan Barrington creates custom hand-held parasols and umbrellas, with clients including TV productions like "Victoria's Secret" and "The Gilded Age." The Gibson Public Art Gallery exhibits local and national artists of note.
