Today, visitors to Peachland can explore Indigenous heritage through cultural sites, storytelling, and art that celebrate the traditions of the Syilx people.

Indigenous Heritage Along Okanagan Lake

The waters of Okanagan Lake hold great significance in Syilx oral history, including the legend of N’ha-a-itk (Ogopogo), the lake’s spirit protector. Interpretive signage along the lakefront shares Indigenous perspectives on the area’s history, land stewardship, and ecological knowledge.
