Indigenous Arts & Cultures in Armstrong

Discover Indigenous Destinations and Experiences in Armstrong

Armstrong, nestled in the heart of the North Okanagan, is a community that honors its rich Indigenous heritage and deep cultural roots. As part of the traditional territory of the Syilx (Okanagan) people, Armstrong offers visitors a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in authentic Indigenous experiences. Discover cultural centers and heritage sites that showcase traditional art, storytelling, and the enduring connection between the land and its original inhabitants.

Engage with local Indigenous communities through seasonal cultural festivals, hands-on workshops, and guided tours that reveal centuries-old traditions and practices. Armstrong’s vibrant community events often feature traditional music, dance, and visual arts that reflect the creativity and resilience of the Syilx people. Whether you’re exploring Indigenous art installations or learning about ancestral practices, Armstrong invites you to connect with the living heritage of the North Okanagan and celebrate its rich cultural legacy.

Located in the heart of Spallumcheen Valley, between the sunny Okanagan and the bright Shuswap Valleys, the city of Armstrong is a vibrant destination to visit and explore. Armstrong attractions such as Armstrong Farmer's Market, which runs outdoors weekly from April to October make it a truly exciting destination.  Take a walk along the streets of Armstrong and you will notice the Armstrong-Spallumcheen Museum and Art Gallery which is home to more than 30 historical displays (attractions). Another must-visit attraction in the city is the Caravan Farm Theatre, which is a unique experience as the theatre doesn't have a dedicated building and various locations around the farm are used as settings for the works.

Every community has its own unique cultural footprint.
