National Day for Truth and Reconciliation at the SLCC

• National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
• Wednesday September 30, 10am – 5pm
• A: Experience a full day of listening, learning and reflection through immersive experiences including a Guest Speaker Series, Spo7ez cultural sharing, storytelling, immersive craft activities, the Spo7ez Artist Market, Indigenous-inspired cuisine at the Thunderbird Cafe, and the Gallery & Gift Shop features books, authentic art and keepsakes.
• B: On National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Wednesday, September 30, the SLCC offers a powerful opportunity for reflection, education, and connection — through storytelling, cultural sharing, and immersive experiences. Thought-provoking guest speakers include Julian Brave NoiseCat, Co-Director of Sugarcane and Author of We Survived the Night, Author Carolyn Roberts of Tess’s Red Dress, film Distance by Lil’wat Filmmaker Sydney Pascal, and the feature documentary I am Gitxsan in partnership with Whistler Film Festival. Guests can enjoy immersive crafts, educational exhibits and tours, and explore handcrafted art and wellness products at the Spo7ez Artist Market.

• Unceded S7ulh Temíxw / Ti Tmicwkálha / Our Land Exhibition – Creekside Bridge

  • The Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre in partnership with Whistler Blackcomb presents the Unceded S7ulh Temíxw / Ti Tmicwkálha / Our Land Exhibition pop up at Creekside Bridge during the UCI World Cup Mountain Biking Downhill event. The exhibition features original photographs of members of the Squamish Nation and Lil’wat Nation living deeply in their culture, set in breathtaking Sea to Sky landscapes from K’emk’emeláy (Vancouver) to Ts’zil (Mount Currie) mountain. The travelling exhibit features photography by Logan Swayze, and guests can see a larger collection from the original 2022 exhibit at the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre.
