The 4th annual Route 19A Arts Festival is a 16 day event in September (Sept 12-27) on central Vancouver Island celebrating the creativity of the small communities along Route 19A (Dashwood, Qualicum Bay, Bowser, Deep Bay, Fanny Bay and Union Bay) by showcasing local visual and performing artists with a Fine Art Exhibition, Live Performances and an Artists Studio Tour. www.route19a.com
Sept 12-13 – Fine Art Exhibition – Juried exhibition featuring professional artists from Vancouver Island and the surrounding gulf islands at the Lighthouse Community Hall in Qualicum Bay. 21 artists on site for discussions and original art purchases. Emerging youth artists, live background music, demos, and live art competitions.
Sept 14-25 – Live Performances – Wide variety of performances from singer/songwriters & comedians, to salsa dancing & vaudeville burlesque. Local performers with an emphasis on original material. A different location and performance every night for 12 consecutive days in community halls, small venues and homes located along Route 19a from Dashwood to Union Bay.
Open Studio Tour, Sept 26, 27th. Artists studios located on or near Route 19A from Dashwood to Union Bay welcome you into their workspaces. This self-guided tour offers an intimate glimpse into private studios where artists showcase their work and creative processes. From vibrant paintings and unique sculptures to finely crafted pottery and jewelry, the tour highlights the diverse artistry of the region. Locations, artists bios and samples provided on line and in print.
