Tracing the evolution of Gu Xiong’s artistic practice and the major influences that defined it, the exhibition highlights landmark pieces from his 50-year career. An internationally recognized multidisciplinary artist, Gu works across mediums, including painting, sculpture, photography, video, and site-specific installations. His work redefines how we understand migration, hybridity and globalization.

What would you pack if you were forcibly removed from your home today? This is what photographer Kayla Isomura asked more than 80 fourth and fifth generation Japanese Canadians and Americans ranging in age from infants to 51-year-olds. The photos show subjects with their luggage and what they decided to pack, in addition to video interviews and information about internment/incarceration.
