Located on Granville Island, Ukama Gallery is a contemporary art gallery featuring a curated collection of finely crafted Zimbabwean stone sculpture alongside original paintings by local Canadian artists.
Ukama showcases diverse local contemporary works that explore landscape, abstraction, texture, and emotional atmosphere through distinctly personal perspectives.
Reflecting the artists’ varied backgrounds and practices, the collection of paintings and mixed media pieces ranges from luminous Pacific Northwest scenes and impressionistic natural environments to expressive abstract compositions rich with movement and layered colour.
In contrast, the gallery also features contemporary Zimbabwean sculpture by both emerging and internationally recognized artists. These works explore themes of family, spirituality, transformation, nature, and human connection through fluid organic lines and richly textured stone.
Carved primarily from serpentine and various semi-precious stones, the sculptures balance abstraction and figuration while highlighting the tactile beauty and natural character of the material itself.
Together, these distinct artistic traditions create a dynamic dialogue around creativity, material, and the shared human impulse to make art.
Open seven days a week, Ukama Gallery welcomes collectors, visitors, and art lovers to experience a uniquely diverse and thoughtfully curated space.
