The Railway Museum of BC, operated by the West Coast Railway Association (WCRA), is home of Canadian Pacific Railway Royal Hudson #2860, built in 1940.
The Museum showcases interactive and walk-through exhibits of historic steam and diesel locomotives, rolling stock, railway artifacts and operating trains families and kids can ride on. We restore, preserve and maintain Canada’s railway heritage. Ride our big train BC-21 Budd passenger Rail Diesel Car and our Big Red Track Speeder. Our 20-minute Mini-Rail ride runs all day, covers over 2km of track and takes riders from one end of the grounds to the other.
Visit our Roundhouse and Car Shop to see BC Electric #960, the Railway Post Office car, a BC Rail Caboose, the Colonist Car and Bud Butterworth Troop Transport. Enjoy spacious play areas for children and families, picnic areas for lunch and snacks. Check out the Brightbill House and the Station Building for a step back in time.
The Museum presents the story of how the railways were a catalyst in the creation of Western Canadian communities and their economies. The collection of 95 heritage railway locomotives and cars are exhibited in a typical small community setting.
The WCRA also operates specialty rail tours and the Locomotive 374 Pavilion at the Roundhouse Community Centre in Vancouver.
We offer Spring & Summer special family events, and our popular North Pole Express train rides during the holiday season.
