The Fort St. John Community Arts Council represents over two-thirds of the 35,000 residents in the North Peace who participate in arts activities, who enjoy watching arts and cultural events, or who make arts classes, festivals, and performances happen. The Arts Council is made up of 24 member groups that includes music, dance, visual arts, theatre, heritage, fabric arts, pottery and more which makes Fort St. John a vibrant and interesting place to live. Fort St. John is located at Mile 47 of the famous Alaska Highway. It is 5 hours drive North of Prince George, 14 hours drive North of Vancouver and 7 hours drive West of Edmonton. As a truly northern BC community, Fort St. John creates its own arts and cultural activities and events closely tied to the type of adventurous people who live and work here.

The Arts Council manages the operation of the Artspost Studios for pottery, spinning and weaving and painting. The North Peace Cultural Centre (NPCC) is the performance centre for arts and cultural events. Opened in 1992, the NPCC houses a 400 seat, newly-renovate theatre, the Public Library, the Art Gallery and an arts activity centre. Among the many arts classes offered, the NPCC has a Play Arts Preschool, an After School Care Program, a free Let’s Arts painting program for teens and Pokemon Gaming. The NPCC is located in the heart of downtown core and along with the Arts Council is focused on enhancing the downtown area. The Annual Street Banner program, the previous Flower Pot painting, and the Bright Nights in June Festival are a few of the happenings of the Arts in Fort St. John.

The Fort St. John Community Arts Council
  • shapes healthy minds and stimulates active thinking.
  • presents creative opportunities.
  • instills confidence and personal growth.
  • attracts families and retains employees in the community.
