The Squamish Nation Youth Powwow is an annual cultural gathering hosted by the Squamish Nation, held at X̱wmélch’stn (Capilano Reserve Park). This vibrant, family-friendly event celebrates Indigenous traditions while creating space for youth to lead, learn, and share their culture.
Over the course of the weekend, the powwow brings together dancers, drummers, and artists from across Turtle Island to participate in competitive and intertribal dancing. Visitors can experience powerful drum groups, regalia in motion, and a strong sense of community rooted in Coast Salish traditions.
In addition to the dancing and drumming, the event features Indigenous artisans, food vendors, and cultural demonstrations, offering an immersive experience for both participants and spectators. As a youth-focused powwow, it emphasizes mentorship, cultural pride, and the passing of knowledge to the next generation, making it both a celebration and a meaningful cultural gathering.
