Monica’s artwork is inspired by the Pacific Northwest landscape and Indigenous symbolism. Her beautifully imperfect textured paintings are semi-abstract compositions described as ethereal landscapes and forms of the mind. Their aim is to engage and seduce the viewer in a visual, tactile and emotional experience, to create an encounter, a meeting of minds and souls between artist and observer.
Her paintings emphasize texture, inviting the viewer to touch them. The textures and veils of colour in her work are a visual representation and expression of emotional complexity.
She is proud to be represented at Ukama Gallery, Vancouver. Recent exhibited works, are part of a continuing textural exploration of the patterns of light and wind as they travel across water and rock surfaces. Each piece has a sense of raw energy, movement and organic flow.
