Join in on the fundraiser to keep the gallery doors open: www.dundaraveprintworkhop.com

Incorporated as a cooperative, non-profit society since 1971, Dundarave Print Workshop (DPW) is an artists’ studio and gallery dedicated to contemporary fine art printmaking.  Our members include established and emerging artists, all of whom share a common love of printmaking. Located in the Net Loft building, amidst Vancouver’s vibrant Granville Island community of artists’ studios, galleries and cafés, DPW offers professional facilities for intaglio, relief-based printmaking and related processes.

Our gallery holds year-round exhibitions of the work produced in the studio by our artist-members. Printmaking courses and workshops are taught by the artists throughout the year.  Come and visit and watch our presses in
action. Our studio space is viewable from the front gallery where you can browse through an extensive and varied selection of affordable prints for sale.

Upcoming Events

New exhibition:
“Love & Lust”
February 5-April 5

The Printmakers of Dundarave Print Workshop explore the Aesthetics of Beauty and Pleasure through original prints: etchings, collagraphs, monotypes, relief prints and more.
Membership

DPW has 28 full time members. Available memberships are open to any competent
printmaker upon acceptance of their application and portfolio. Eligibility is based upon the individual’s printmaking skills, education, professional art experience and any qualifications or attributes that will enhance the cooperative environment of the workshop. The portfolio (a minimum of 10 prints) should show technical proficiency and the professional attitude of the applicant. Please include a list of the portfolio prints, a CV and the DPW application form. An affordable annual membership fee allows artists 24-hour access to the print workshop. Members attend the gallery four days a year and also help run the cooperative on a volunteer basis.

For more information, please phone 604.689.1650 or email info@dundaraveprintworkshop.com.

Dundarave Print Gallery
The DPW Gallery, in front of the workshop, exhibits members’ work throughout the year. Members can apply for solo or group exhibitions, while group shows of smaller format prints are held in the summer and winter months to showcase all of the members’ new work.

Studio Facilities
DPW offers facilities for intaglio, relief-based printmaking and related processes. Dundarave Print Workshop supplies many of the materials and chemicals required for intaglio and relief printmaking.

Our equipment includes: a Takach Etching Press (39.5” x 76”); a Charles Brands Etching Press (26” x 48”); a Praga Press (18.5” x 39”); and a Block & Type Press (15” x 32”).

Courses and Workshops

DPW holds printmaking courses and workshops throughout the year. Both the novice and advanced printmaker will find classes that accommodate and challenge their skill level. Class sizes are small (approximately 8 students) in order to facilitate individual instruction. Please check out our web site or call the studio for a current course schedule.

What Is an Original Print?

An original print is not an identical copy of a piece of artwork, but a piece of fine art in itself. Each print is hand-made by the artist using a plate or matrix, such as wood, metal, stone or plexi-glass on which the artist creates an image by etching, carving, building up the surface or painting. The plates are then inked and hand-printed in small editions.
