We fell in love.
Not in a way you might think, but in a way we never thought we would. Let us explain….
When we purchased our run down, desolate, dirty theatre in 2009, we wanted to clean it up and hopefully breath new life into it. With very little knowledge of the movie industry we wanted to leave the running of the business up to the current tenant that was in place. But we fell in love.
This gem of the Kootenay’s reached out and tugged at our heart strings and begged for more diverse content on the screen, more people visiting her – an overall injection of life to happen. We took the challenge on and built The Royal Theatre up to what it is today. We operate 7 days a week, close 1-3 days a year for major holidays. We take credit for many firsts in the Kootenay’s and have taken pride in bringing this old gal back to her former glory. VIP luxury recliners, 50foot screen, laser projector, Dolby Digital 7.1 Surround Sound, arcade, stunning lobby and so much more. We offer a clean, safe and affordable place for people to gather and enjoy First Run movies, Metropolitan Opera’s, Bolshoi Ballet’s, Musical’s, Art House pictures and more. All in downtown Trail.
The Royal Theatre was built in 1927 and is locally owned and operated by Lisa & Jason Milne.
