Welcome to Boundary Country, land of fertile fields, lush valleys, lakes, rivers and mountains. Many of our artists came here to be inspired by the sheer beauty of Boundary Country in the Thompson-Okanagan Region of BC. Feel the flow of the Kettle River as it lazily swirls from one end to the other of Boundary Country. Stand among emerald seas and admire the sheer beauty of the forests as you venture along Boundary’s trails. Bighorn sheep, elk, eagles and hawks animate postcard-worthy vistas. These are the visuals that continue to lure artists and artisans here.
Here are a few ways to enjoy the arts in Boundary Country.
Gallery 2 — Grand Forks
Step inside the Grand Forks’ Gallery 2 and find yourself at the jewel of the Grand Forks art scene. Gallery 2 has continuous exhibitions of BC artists in three gallery spaces throughout the year. Traditional and contemporary works tell the story of the beauty that abounds in Boundary Country. Once you’ve seen the exhibits, pop into the gallery’s gift shop and search for treasures of local and regional hand-made crafts and artwork. You may just find the perfect memento of your Boundary visit.
Christina Lake Living Arts Centre — Christina Lake
Another great place to find local art is at the Christina Lake Visitor Centre. In 2018, the Centre’s 3D mural was updated and it is fantastic. Grab your crew for a breathtaking photo-op as you feel you are high above the valley as you stand on the trestle and watch the waterfalls below. The Christina Lake Welcome Centreis the hub of Christina Lake’s artistic community. Stroll through Arts on 3 Gallery and discover emerging and established artists along the way. Learn about the Story Pole that chronicles Christina Lake’s story from ancient beginnings to the present.
Deadwood Junction — Greenwood
When you’re looking for eclectic, Greenwood’s Deadwood Junction is what you want. This roadside stagecoach is part roadside grille, part coffee shop and part art gallery. You’ll find a diverse array of handcrafted works prominently displayed throughout the gallery. There’s exquisite photography of Boundary Country, handcrafted jewellery and original paintings created in acrylic, oil or watercolour. In the summer take in a demonstration of wood and antler carving.
