Joan Barrington, and her alter-ego, Barrington Brolly, create unique, custom, hand-held parasols and umbrellas, based on each client’s requirements. Just over the past few years, Joan began making her own frames, using walnut wood. Being able to do this (create custom frames), meant that replicating umbrellas and parasols from the mid-1700s to early 1800s time-period (otherwise known as the Regency Period), was even better.
Joan’s clients have come from varied backgrounds and have had differing requirements, from individual clients, of today, looking for something special in an umbrella, or hand-held parasol, to historical reenactors, and living history museums, across Canada and the USA.
No doubt you may have seen some of Joan’s creations, in either theatre, movie, or film productions. Broadway productions have included “Coast of Utopia”, “Hello, Dolly!”, “Beetlejuice”, and more recently, “New York, New York”, and “Parade”. Umbrellas and parasols were provided for the movies “Pachinko”, and “Slumberland”. Television productions include “Victoria’s Secret”, and “The Gilded Age”.
As Joan says, “Regardless the era you live, or play in, we have you covered.”.
So, what do you envision for your next, unique umbrella, or hand-held parasol?
