Williams Lake
For experienced hikers, hike up Russet Bluff for a view of Williams Lake. Mountain bike on a 20 km round trip from the River Valley parking lot along Williams Creek to where it meets the Fraser River. Use the Downtown Williams Lake app and take a walking tour of the most extensive mural collection in the Cariboo Chilcotin. As you drive into the Cariboo from the south, stop and golf at the expansive 18-hole 108 Mile Golf Club.
Cariboo Regional District
Drive east to Horsefly and walk through the fall colours on the 2.2 km Horsefly Accessible Trail. Continue on to the ghost town, Quesnelle Forks and explore what was once a major supply centre for the Cariboo Gold Rush in the mid to late 1800s. Drive to Ghost Lake where you might see the clash of fall and winter. Continue along the beautiful scenic drive on the Gold Rush Circle Route to Barkerville and Wells and then onward to Quesnel. Please check current weather conditions prior to driving along the Gold Rush Circle Route.
Quesnel
Embark on a self-guided nature scavenger hunt on the trail network at Ten Mile Lake Provincial Park. Stop by the Quesnel Visitor Centre and borrow gold pans to pan for gold in Baker Creek, followed by a warm beverage at a café in West Quesnel. Fly-fish for Rainbow Trout along the edges of Dragon Lake where the fish are plentiful during the early fall.
