  • The Whistler Film Festival Society (WFFS) is a charitable organization dedicated to celebrating and advancing the art of film through the annual Whistler Film Festival and Summit complimented by year-round series of events and programs for film fans and filmmakers that include film screenings and series, socials and fundraisers, and talent and industry programs. Our mission is to cultivate diverse cultural experiences that connect people through the art of cinema, and to discover, develop and promote Canadian screen based talent for global success.

When the Whistler Film Festival was founded in 2001, it was with the intention to create opportunities for new and original voices to be heard in independent film, to put Whistler on the map as a cultural destination and to promote British Columbia’s burgeoning film industry. The festival has not changed in terms of its purpose, but it has grown way beyond ever imagined in terms of its size, scope and scale.

Today, our organization produces a well-respected, credible event on the international film festival circuit, augmented by film presentations and market-driven development programs for Canadian talent throughout the year. WFF programs serve over 16,000 attendees annually, with the festival attracting 14,000 attendees including 1,000 industry insiders, and 2,000 attendees through year round initiatives.

With just 11 weeks to go we’re pleased to announce the first 12 Canadian titles that will screen at WFF19 including eight World Premieres and three Canadian Premieres, 10 of which are eligible for WFF’s coveted Borsos Competition for Best Canadian Feature which offers a $15,000 cash prize presented by the Directors Guild of Canada, British Columbia.
