Carving on the Edge Festival is a celebration of the West coast carver held each year on the beautiful West coast of Vancouver Island, British Columbia. The event showcases traditional and contemporary West coast wood carving with exhibits, forums, feasts, family programs and demonstrations.
Our goal is to inspire the growth of the traditional and contemporary west coast carving arts through celebration, education and relationship building. Since 2010 we have been gathering in Clayoquot Sound to host the only annual festival in BC that celebrates the traditional and contemporary carving arts. Our participating master carvers lead each festival’s themes with a wide range of programming for everyone from the curious public to experienced master carvers. We feature workshops, demonstrations, evening presentations, an open carving area, traditional dugout canoe tours, and artist installations. We also include a yearly exhibition open to all carvers, designed to honour the diversity of our creative community.
