    Layer Up With Collage

    Join Jeanne for an intensive workshop in which participants learn, layer by layer, to build a collage painting with different materials and tools while keeping the ‘glow’ in their artwork. This workshop is for everyone who wants to learn about the steps in the collage process. The instructor will guide the participants through hands-on and technical advice in making an inspiring 8×10 ,  11 X 14 , or 12 X 12 piece of art in one day.

    Gels, Mediums and Faux Encaustics

    You may have seen some interesting art works in galleries around and wondered how artists achieves certain ‘looks’ on their artwork. In this workshop we will go over the different finishing products that you will find in the art supply stores. You will get an idea of what product will create which effect on your art pieces. From resin like sheen to soft and misty look of encaustics. The workshop offers a range of different products to watch and try out. Some painting experience is great. All materials and use of tools are included in the course fee.

    APRIL WORKSHOPS

    The Power of Colour

    1:00 pm– 6:00 pm – $110

    Explore the power of colour in this short workshop which will introduce you to colour temperature, value, transparency, colour mixing and using colour in a painting. Participants come home with a basic knowledge of colour and what they can achieve by using colour in their art work. Every participant will receive a colour wheel. This is a fun and great workshop for anybody who paints in any medium! All use of tools and materials are included in the workshop fee; just bring yourself and a cover up for your clothes. Everything else will be waiting for you in the art room!

    Fantastic Acrylics

    A full afternoon and night playing with acrylic paints and learning how to start, create exciting layers and finish a piece of abstract art.

    You will be introduced to ways of creating a design for your piece, textures, dry brushing, lifting and glazing.

    Elements of Composition

    1.30 – 5.00 pm – $ 125/2 sessions

    At Coal Harbour Community Center, bottom of Broughton street at Coal Harbour, Vancouver

    Two afternoons of looking at the way we put our art work together. The choices the artist has in placing shapes, lines and colour in their art work. We will speak about the difference in horizontal, vertical and oblique art pieces, explain the Golden Edge and how to lead the viewers eye into our art work.

    Working on an abstract landscape piece, participants will come home with a piece of art of their own compositional choices. A great base for anybody who paints of draws! All materials and use of tools are included in the workshop fee.

    At Strathcona Community Centre, 601 Keefer street, Vancouver

    Challenge yourself with this intensive one-day workshop on making the move towards large scale pieces. Experiment with acrylics and mixed media as you reconsider your creative process and expand your work into new dimensions. Learn to use larger gestures and tools (knives, brushes and more) to match the scale of the work you are creating. Discover how to alter your approach when working with large surfaces and gain a new level of confidence.

    Get yourself a large painting surface, maybe some gloves and a cover up for your clothes and off you go. All use of materials and tools is included in the workshop fee.
