Carter Wosk Award in Applied Art and Design – Elevating function and beauty
Nominations open until midnight July 15th 2019
The Carter Wosk Award in Applied Art + Design celebrates British Columbians whose work directly contributes to the cultural and economic fabric of the province.
The annual award, run by the BC Achievement Foundation since 2003, recognizes talented artists and innovators who have carved out a niche for themselves within their field and mastered the space where creativity and commerce meet. This kind of creative innovation serves to enhance day-to-day life for individuals, enrich society as a whole and strengthen the economy.
Individuals who work in applied art such as jewellery, glass, wood, fibre, clay, metal, textiles, fashion, shoemaking, weaving and industrial design are eligible.
Up to three recipients will be awarded at a presentation and curated exhibit taking place at The Roundhouse, exhibition partner for the Carter Wosk Award, in Vancouver from November 23 – 27, 2019.
The Carter Wosk Award in Applied Art and Design is named in honour of two British Columbians: Sam Carter, BC educator, designer and curator; and Dr. Yosef Wosk, philanthropist, academic and visionary.
Award made available by the BC Achievement Foundation.
