  • One of the key events of the City of Richmond’s Canada 150 celebrations will be the Ships to Shore King of the Sea festival at Garry Point Park featuring the Kaiwo Maru. Known as the ‘King of the Sea’, the Kaiwo Maru is a four-masted, 361 ft. long, 182 ft. high naval training vessel from Japan. This free family event will feature programming and attracts to appeal to all ages and cultures. Event highlights include:
    • Ship viewing and boarding,
    • Ship Sail Drill,
    • Main stage entertainment, including a headline artist on Saturday night,
    • Fireworks over the Fraser on Saturday night,
    • Festival entertainment throughout the site including buskers, pop up demonstrations and hands-on activities,
    • Food trucks,
    • Maritime themed Kids Cove where Children will be encouraged to pick up a souvenir event passport that will guide them through the festival site, and
    • Community art installations, marketplace and displays.
