Event Category: Workshops
In this 6-week course students will explore and combine different art techniques and media including: printmaking, collage, painting, and shadow box (3D compositions). In this process-based course the focus is on the act of being creative: developing an idea, experimenting, creating and evaluating. Following demonstrations using the various art techniques and by researching and discovering sources of inspiration, students will complete 3 self-directed projects. This course is a fun, hands on class designed for students of all levels.
Instructor Natasha SMITH holds a BA Hons. in Fine Art Printmaking and has been a practicing visual artist for over 20 years. Natasha’s personal and physical environment inspires her most recent semi-abstract works, which combine printmaking, collage, painting and assemblage. Natasha works intuitively, allowing process, landscape and a love of the primitive mark to direct her work. She is a self-defined teaching artist and has taught at KSA (Kootenay Studio Arts at Selkirk College), Oxygen Art Centre, Red Deer College, Metchosin International School of the Arts and Malaspina Printmaking Studio in Vancouver.
